Fertilizer & Weed Control FAQs

How often should my lawn be treated with fertilizer and weed control?

For best results in Bel Air and Harford County, we recommend 4 to 6 treatments per year, spaced out seasonally. This includes pre-emergent weed control in early spring, fertilization in spring and fall, and spot weed treatments as needed throughout the growing season.

Yes—once the application has fully dried, your lawn is safe for children and pets. This usually takes a few hours. We’ll let you know exactly when it’s safe to resume activity on the lawn after each treatment.

Most broadleaf weeds will begin to die off within 7–14 days after application. Some tougher or recurring weeds may require follow-up spot treatments, which we include as part of your plan.

We recommend waiting 24–48 hours before mowing, and avoiding watering for at least 24 hours after a weed control application to allow the product to be fully absorbed. We’ll provide exact timing instructions after each visit.

We use professional-grade, slow-release fertilizers that are customized for Maryland lawns. These blends provide balanced nutrients that promote steady growth and rich color, without excessive top growth.

While we offer one-time treatments, a full-season program delivers much better long-term results. We’ll evaluate your lawn and recommend the best plan based on your budget and goals.

You’ll often see greener grass within 7–10 days of fertilization. Weed control effects vary based on the type of weed, but visible wilting or browning typically begins within a week of application.
